Here you'll learn all about George ELMS born in 1846 at Lacock,Wiltshire.George Elms married Virtue Elms also born Lacock
but in 1843.Virtue had a son Michael Banks before she married George. They settled at Melksham where Elizabeth and my grandfather
, Robert Elms [b 1969] were born.
At this time in history and industry, the coal mines of South Wales offered new opportunities to many folk from
counties such as Somerset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Devon, Kent, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire and and
Shropshire.
Thus, George and Virtue moved to YSTRADYFODWG [Pentre] to begin life in coalmining.
The family grew to include, William, Arthur, Henry and Joseph. All later to become miners at local Rhondda Collieries.
My grandfather worked at the Tylorstown mines. The children grew and more of the Elms family members were introduced by
their marriages.
The present day members are again spread about the world from Northamptonshire to Canada and Australia to
those still living in the welsh valleys.
On this home page, the "doorway" to my site, I'll introduce myself and talk about my reasons for wanting a web site.
I might put a picture of myself on this page...or just a picture that I especially like.

What's New?
On 27th June,2004 the website author's wife Margaret Hilda Elms suddenly
died at home after a very long illness. The enthusiasm to continue the family history were therefore put on hold. Samuel James
Elms still remains the current male to continue the family line on the James Elms front to date.
Life has to go on and July 2004 remains memorable for Ken Elms with first a family reunion with David,Shari,Katrina
and Myrtle Elms who live at Ontario,Canada. The reunion took place on July 11Th,2004 at Rushden Northants.
Ken then met up with a web personal friend,Valerie Cargill a Wallsend,born girl[near Newcastle]. Life
changed for both of them--their pets too,Penny [Val's gorgeous cat] and seasoned dog,Max[Ken's pet]. Val currently resides
in Livingston naer Edinburgh. Ken has included Val's family into his website.
Here I might add an entry whenever I make an update to my web site. Where appropriate, I'll include a link to the change.
